GRAND LAKE — Where else does $6,000 multiply to $30,000? Thanks to money matches from Trinity Church in the Pines, Rotary of Grand Lake, a private foundation and an anonymous donor, every dollar donated during this year’s Loaves and Fish event is multiplied by five.

Grand Angels, a Grand County non-profit organization, is hosting its third bi-annual Loaves and Fish Fundraiser, from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Grand Lake Community Center (located in the Town Park).

The Grand Angels Neighbors Helping Neighbors program is supported totally by donations from Grand County merchants, people and grants. The Grand Lake Food Bank — one of the ways the Grand Angels helps the community — is located in the basement of Trinity Church in the Pines. It feeds more than 700 in need each year with one-third of them hungry children and one-third first-time food bank users. The Christmas Joy Project provides gifts to children who otherwise would go without; and gives children a chance to shop for their parents.

Through the years, $300,000 has been distributed to 6,000 neighbors in need through the efforts of the Grand Angels and the Grand County community, with 100 percent of money raised going to feed/help a neighbor in need.

Moreover, a Grand Foundation grant is providing a merchant match, which means they will buy a gift certificate of the same value donated — doubling the auction items, doubling the number of people visiting local participating businesses and doubling the number of neighbors that are fed.

Live auction items —always a hit at this fundraiser — include a seven-day condo stay in Maui, paintings from local artists Linda Israel, Marjorie Cranston and Laura Kratz (a former Hallmark artist), concerts by Peggy Mann and Brad Pregeant and the Joyful Noise Boys, boat rides, geocaching, cooking classes and much more. Silent auction items include donations from local artisans, a vintage piano, sports memorabilia and more.

Visit http://www.grandangels.net to view the items available. To participate in bidding on items at the event, register by emailing grandangels1@aol.com.

Those who attend are asked to please bring an appetizer to share. Beverages will be available for sale (ID and bid number required for purchase).

If you are not able to attend the Loaves and Fish Fundraiser, request assistance for long-distance bidding. An angel will be assigned to bid for you, up to your maximum approved amount.
