Trio con Brio Copenhagen performs in the season finale of the Grand County Concert Series.

This Danish-Korean piano trio tours worldwide and appears for the first time in Grand County on Friday night, March 27. Supporting sponsors for this concert are Destinations West, Fraser Valley Lions Club and WESTAF Tour Grants.

"It is with strong local support and help from grants that we have the opportunity in Grand County to hear musicians who perform in major venues around the world," said Judy Baxter, president of the concert series. "Trio con Brio has been on our radar for several years, and now, we can finally have them perform in our concert series.

A $2,150 Tour Grant from WESTAF (Western States Arts Federation) and the National Endowment for the Arts is helping to pay for Trio con Brio Copenhagen's performance in Grand County. The Tour Grant program helps bring top musicians, already performing in the region, to rural communities in Western States. The Trio's performance in Grand County is part of a United States tour from March 19 to April 1, including Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Denver, among other cities.

Sisters Soo-Jin Hong, violin, and Soo-Kyung Hong, cello, play with pianist Jens Elvekjaer. Since it formed in 1999, Trio con Brio Copenhagen has won most of the international competitions for piano trio. They are described as exploring piano trio repertoire with freshness and curiosity as well as with respect and reflection.

They are founders and artistic directors of the Copenhagen Chamber Music Festival. In addition, they play a central role in Scandinavia's vibrant contemporary music scene. As educators, they teach at the Royal Academy of Copenhagen and give masterclasses while on tour, including at such schools as Yale University, Rice University in Houston and the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
