3 TV towers on Lookout Mountain set to be removed

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) – The three tallest television towers west of Denver are set to be removed by next summer.
The towers on Lookout Mountain will be replaced by a single digital tower that stands 730 feet. The move follows a decade-long fight between broadcasters and neighbors who have been worried about radiation from the towers as well as electronic interference and their appearance.
The first two towers are expected to be removed by the end of the year. The third tower, the tallest at 834 feet, is scheduled to be taken down in the spring.
Under an agreement between a group of Denver broadcasters and Jefferson County, the towers must be taken down within a year of the switch to digital broadcasting.
