Former Granby resident Alex J. Link, of Midland, Texas, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland with K.C. Blackketter, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the memorial service. Alex was born Dec. 13, 192, in Cheyenne, Wyo. He was the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Link. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.Alex spent most of his life as a farmer in Worland, Wyo. In 1985, after retiring from the farm, he and his wife, Mary, moved to Granby, Colo. He worked as a custodian for Grand Lake Elementary. In 2000, they moved to Midland. Alex finished his working career (at the age of 80) as a custodian at Wal-Mart. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, bowling and cards (rummy and pinochle).He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Link of Midland; 2 sisters, Esther Timko of Georgetown, Ill., and Freda Gail of Cody, Wyo.; his daughters, Mary Jane Belden of Midland and Lorraine Leach and husband, Bill of Farmington, N.M.; his son, Alex L. Link and wife, Dixie of Topeka, Kan.; two granddaughters, Jacklyn Smith and husband, Scott of Fort Worth and Debbie Seawright and husband, Randy of Midland; 3 great-grandsons, Cory Seawright and Casey Seawright of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Chandler Seawright of Midland; and numerous out of state nephews and nieces.The family wishes to express special thanks to doctors: Goronia and P. K. Patel, and to the staff of the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
