4 BAR 4 fundraiser
July 26, 2016
The Board of Historic Fraser, Inc. is pleased to announce a summer barbeque hosted on-site at the 4 BAR 4 Ranch in the historic Hay Barn 3 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 30. This local landmark is located on County Road 5 at CR 518 in the Fraser Valley, three miles north of Fraser.
Delicious BBQ buffet, beer, wine, soft drinks, music, fun and games will be enjoyed by all. Those interested in the history of the site will have a chance to see the Stagecoach Stop and Hotel, and the Ford Barn and learn a little about the hearty families who helped found the Fraser Valley; exterior viewing only, for safety reasons.
The BBQ will be the first of important fundraising efforts to SAVE THE 4 BAR 4. Many have watched as these important historic buildings fell into disrepair. In 2012, Colorado Preservation, Inc. declared the 4 BAR 4 Ranch "One of Colorado's Most Endangered Places." Now, a new SAVE THE 4 BAR 4 Committee is working to preserve this important piece of Fraser Valley heritage.
According to an Historic Structural Assessment, preservation of the Stagecoach Stop and Hotel, and the Ford Barn, could require more than $750,000. The 4 BAR 4 Hotel and Ford Barn have been shored-up to prevent further decline while funds are sought from History Colorado, local and state-wide businesses and private individuals. When the weather cooperates, additional support and disassembly will continue. The Save the 4 BAR 4 Committee will be working closely with Colorado Preservation, Inc., HistoriCorps and Friends of the 4 BAR 4.
