Colorado Basin Roundtable scheduled

A Colorado Basin Roundtable meeting will be held in Glenwood Springs on March 28.

The general public and other interested stakeholders are invited to attend the meeting and encouraged to actively participate in the process. The meeting will be held from noon to 4 p.m. in the Glenwood Springs Community Center, located at 100 Wulfsohn Road in Glenwood Springs.

Representatives from the Colorado Basin Roundtable recently issued a press release regarding this year's list of scheduled meetings. After the March 28 meeting of the Roundtable additional meetings will be held on May 23, July 25, Sept. 26 and Nov. 28.

Additionally the Next Steps Committee will have meetings at the Colorado River Water conservation District offices located at 201 Centennial, Suite 200 in Glenwood Springs from noon to 2 p.m. Their meetings will be held on April 25, June 27, Aug. 22 and Oct. 24. Telephone participation is available for the Next Steps Committee meetings.

No meetings for either the Roundtable or the Committee will be held in Dec.

According to the press release the Colorado Basin Roundtable was created by the Colorado legislature along with eight other Basin Roundtables and the Inter Basin Compact Committee. The roundtables and the Compact Committee were created to facilitate continued discussions within and between the basins on water management issues. The release states the purpose of the Roundtables is, "to encourage locally driven collaborative solutions to water supply challenges."

The release goes on to state that the Roundtables were, "instrumental" in the development of the Colorado Water Plan and will continue to play a significant role in the implementation of the Plan.
