Duckie Racers gain chance to win cash prizes Sunday
August 23, 2013
This is your chance to participate in the development and preservation of multi-use trails in the Fraser Valley and maybe win some great prizes or cash. Grand prize is $250 cash, with up to about 25 other prizes donated by other businesses in the Fraser Valley. There are only a maximum of 1,000 ducks, which allows for better odds.
The money goes toward the Fraser Valley Partnership for Trails to purchase materials used to repair and preserve trails in the Fraser Valley by organizations such as Adopt-A-Trail. FVPT is the volunteer organization that works together with and supplies grant money to organizations and events like Headwaters Trails Alliance, Adopt-A-Trail, National Public Lands Day, and local branches of the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Postal Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. The organization created the Givelo Trail and started the Fraser to Granby Trail, and it promotes education among user groups with trail signs, pamphlets and trailhead signs.
Trails are an important economic and community amenity, especially in resort area like the Fraser Valley. They bring together people of all ages and athletic abilities and provide safe and economical transportation for our kids as well as commuters and recreational users. Only by working together can the community preserve and improve the area’s excellent trail system.
Send your donation to FVPT at P.O. Box 68, Fraser CO 80442.
Participants in the duck race should bring waders, water shoes and fishing nets to help drive the plastic ducks down the creek toward the finish line.
