Party to benefit Chris Cox May 7

Sky-Hi News Staff Report

Christopher is doing well but he still needs help! Join his family and friends for an evening of food and drink, music, games, auction, Bingo and family fun while supporting the Cox family as Christopher recovers from an illness that has kept him from his senior year of high school. Live music by Brad and Lynea with Tight Like That, along with other musicians and a group of student musicians who will perform the song they wrote for Christopher. Intermittent Bingo games will be provided by the Grand Lake Rotary Club. Grand Lake mayor, Jim Peterson, will be the auctioneer for the evening. In addition, the wild and crazy guys from the Grand Lake Gentlemen's Club will be bar tending with beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Finger foods donated by local establishments are included with admission. All proceeds to benefit the family of Christopher Cox.

Christopher has been in Children's Hospital in Denver fighting his battle for life for over seven months, and the cost is astronomical. He has suffered from numerous infections, steroid treatments, surgeries, and a painful bone marrow transplant. He has responded well every step of the way and is now looking forward to coming home within the next few months. Thankfully, there is insurance, but it does not cover everything.

Christopher has the biggest heart and worries more about how hard this has been on his family instead of himself. He has never stopped fighting and has taken every hurdle with optimism and good spirits.

Due to his compromised immune system, they will have to make extensive changes to the house before Christopher can come home — that includes replacing all the carpet with wood or tile and repainting with special non-toxic paint.

All donation checks to be made to the Christopher Cox Fund and may be deposited at Grand Mountain Bank. This event is sponsored by the Grand Arts Council and so many local businesses, volunteers, and generous givers.
