The bull elk — a star attraction of the recent “Elk Fest” — was shot with an arrow in the spine near its hind quarters in downtown Estes on or around Oct. 15. The badly injured bull made its way the Stanley Hotel. Estes Park police euthanized the animal after it was determined it could no longer walk or eat. Its meat was donated to charity. ESTES PARK – The reward for information about the poacher who shot a popular bull elk with an arrow last month in Estes Park is up to $7,500.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is already offering a $5,000 reward for information about the culprit. On Tuesday, the Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust offered up a $2,500 reward.
