GRAND LAKE – After a record-breaking season in the new Grand Lake theatre complex, The Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre opens the 2012 Summer Season with the classic “Anything Goes.” Shipboard romances and mistaken identities abound in this 1934 musical comedy from the golden age of Broadway. Appealing to the hopeless romantics in all of us, “Anything Goes” follows the lovers, liars and clowns aboard a transatlantic cruise from New York to London, and features a candy box of sparkling Cole Porter favorites, like “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “It’s De-Lovely,” and of course, “Anything Goes.”An exciting blend of RMRT alums and Grand Lake newcomers help create this year’s elite acting company, comprised of professionals from all across the country. “The talent level in this company is astounding,” said Artistic Director Michael Querio. “We auditioned far and wide for the perfect ensemble of artists, and having this group here to represent RMRT is going to make this summer really special. Not only are they brilliant performers, but they are wonderful people, as well. Grand Lake is going to fall in love.”In addition to the accomplished cast, the RMRT production team brings some accolades of its own. Costume Designer Jesus Perez was honored in Chicago this spring with a Joseph Jefferson Award, the city’s most prestigious theatrical prize.”Anything Goes” premieres at 8 p.m. this Friday, June 15, and runs until August 25.
