Barbara Diane Illsley

Barbara Diane Illsley died Feb. 12, 2008, in Corpus Christi, Texas, after a short battle with an aggressive cancer. Her Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, June 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Church in the Pines, Grand Lake.

Chuck and Barbara Illsley moved to their vacation home in Grand Lake full time in 1992. They came from Northglen. They had two sons, Glenn and Brian. Brian died in 1979. Glenn’s move to Alaska with his wife, Sharon, afforded them wonderful vacations and opportunities to go deep sea fishing, which Barbara loved. She grew up in New Hampshire, where her parents operated the Lobster House restaurant.

She loved all sports, cooking, baking and volunteering. In Denver, Barbara got her master’s degree in library science and was a children’s librarian for 10 years, as well as a puppeteer and reference librarian for an additional 17 years.

In Grand Lake she had been active in Trinity Church in the Pines, Women’s Club, Grand Lake Historical Society and served 10 years as a docent at the Kauffman House. She is remembered fondly by her many, many friends.
