Bicycles are going to use Grand County roads – get over it
August 30, 2009
To the Editor:
Here are some comments from a 60-year-old cyclist regarding Mr. Rice’s letter to the editor (isn’t a pedal pusher an item of clothing?)
I and my fellow bicyclists will continue to ride roads such as Berthoud Pass and especially Colorado 125. Deal with it. Slow down and give us our 3 feet.
I am not sure what harm a 25-pound bicycle could do to a 2,000 pound automobile. Both of the mentioned roads have a low speed limit, which should be enforced.
I agree with the earlier writer that all roads should have a shoulder for the safety of both bicyclist and car driver. Highway 125 has just been repaved, but no shoulder – why?
As far as John Rice’s comments – laughable. I own two bicycles, but also two cars, just got a $500 dollar bill to renew my license plates. Swarms of bicycles in Parshall, must have missed that. Swarms of fisherpersons, perhaps.
