Broadway star returns to Grand Lake
July 9, 2010
In 2001, Josh Franklin lit up the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre stage as Danny Zuko in Grease. Nine years later, after a string of Broadway appearances and national tours, Franklin returns to Grand Lake for a one-night-only performance, this Saturday, July 10 at Caroline’s Cuisine. Franklin’s performance kicks off the Theatre’s “After the Show” concert series, which are special performances taking place at local restaurants after Theatre productions. Tickets are $50 with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the “Raise the Curtain!” capital campaign to finish construction on the new theatre. Theatre officials report the campaign is $250,000 away and 23 days from the challenge grant deadline. Franklin has appeared on Broadway in “Legally Blonds” and the revival of “Grease.” Recently audiences may have seen the actor at the Denver Center Broadway Series as Bob Gaudio in “Jersey Boys” or as Chad in “All Shook Up.” Rounding out the 2010 “After the Show” concert series, the Daven Haven Lodge hosts “RMRT 3+1,” comprised of Dylan Paul, Emily Baer, Katharine McEnery and Laura Savage on July 31. Then, Max & T’s Bar & Grill will host “RMRT’s All Star Staff” of Michael Querio, Jeff Duke, Sally Scott, Chad Scott, Clare Arena Haden and Scott Haden on Aug. 7. Finally, Pancho & Lefty’s will host “Two Gals, Two Clowns,” of Alyson Bloom, Carol Rose, Peter Durkin and Josh Kellman on August 14.
