Colo. group reports slight increase in skier visits

DENVER (AP) – The trade group Colorado Ski Country USA says early-season skier visits at its 22 member resorts are up slightly from last year.

The group says that through Dec. 31, visits were up 1 percent compared with last year, thanks to late fall and early winter snow that helped some resorts open earlier than expected.

The group didn’t release exact numbers of skier visits, and the results don’t include Vail Resorts Inc.’s four Colorado resorts.

Vail Resorts has said skier visits through Jan. 6 for all five of its resorts, including Heavenly in California, were down 2.7 percent from a comparable period a year ago.
