Column bought into ‘socialist media vitriol’
August 6, 2008
To the Editor:
It’s been about a week since a “guest commentator” wrote a rant about how bad America is. In 44 column-inches of rambling assertions the writer simply blabbered with negativity. I can’t resist responding.
After asking, “Has America really lost its position as a world leader …”, the vitriol followed:
“lost our leadership position … Bush administration blew it … pariah in the eyes of our allies’ citizens … lost that moral authority … indulged in torture … weakened the world’s respect … our military stretched so thin … we looked like fools to the world … economic sanctions on countries like Iran and even Cuba don’t work … in the economic hole for decades … Our financial markets are in the worst shape since the Depression …Our banks … even find money to loan?”
The writer is obviously an expert in world opinion, finance, the market, trade, the military, moral authority, the Geneva Convention, knows a statistically accurate sampling of all our allies’ citizens and backs Obama ” OR has been listening to the socialist, leftist media far too much and backs Obama. The U.S. socialist Tory media and the foreign socialist media spew the vitriol and folks like your guest columnist not only believe them, but pass it along.
Wow, what a country and what a newspaper, 44 column-inches of throwing stuff at the wall.
