County departments reports cost of SnowBall

Various public agencies reported the expenditures that were made in relation to the SnowBall Music Festival during a Board of County Commissioners meeting that took place Tuesday, March 26.Collectively, the public agencies reported spending $78,816, much of which was attributed to overtime costs from each department.The Sheriff’s Department reported the total cost for the department was $41,526. Grand County Sheriff Rod Johnson reported that $18,000 went to pay for overtime and about $20,000 was spent on hard costs for the event.Before the event, 15 Grand County prisoners were transported to Routt County Jail for FIVE days, with no boarding costs, to make room for a potential 30-40 inmate surge. The department brought in 17 individuals to the jail and most bonded out before Monday, Johnson reported.Emergency Medical Services Chief Ray Jennings reported his department spent $22,000 in relation to the festival with the majority of those costs related to staff and $3,000 being spent on medical supplies.Jennings reported that the number of medical transports during the festival was not much different than a typical spring break weekend.Grand County Road & Bridge Superintendent Ken Haynes said his department spent $11,444 in relation to the event, which included overtime, flagging, and planning and debriefing.Juvenile Services Director Kelly Friesen said her department spent $3,846 on overtime and associated costs. Juvenile Services helped six people who were all under the age of 18.
