DNC: Protesters Start Marching After Concert
August 27, 2008
The members of multi-platinum band Rage Against the Machine and Denver group The Flobots are leading an anti-war march.
The march started at the Denver Coliseum, where Rage and the Flobots played a concert this afternoon, and is headed for the free-speech zones near the Pepsi Center. The number of marchers is estimated to be in the thousands.
Police have blocked off one-lane of the roads for the marchers to walk down.
The march comes after a slow day of protests, much of which is attributed to a fence that was erected around Denver’s Civic Center park”the site of most of the demonstrations during the Democratic Convention so far”in preparation for the Taste of Colorado this weekend.
Denver police report that through 6 p.m. Tuesday, 135 arrests had been made during the DNC.
