Drug take-back to be held on Saturday Sept. 29

Local police departments and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will hold drug take-backs on Saturday, Sept. 29, in three locations across Grand County.

The take-backs will start at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. and will be held at Granby City Market in Granby; Alco in Fraser; and Kremmling Mercantile in Kremmling.

The agencies will be accepting any expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs.

The take-backs help to prevent the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs that are left unused in the house as well as ensure that drugs are disposed of properly.

Last year over 276 tons, or 552,161 pounds, of prescription drugs were recovered from more than 5,600 sites operated by the DEA.

Some things will not be accepted at the take-backs including: Pressurized medications; needles or sharps; mercury thermometers; oxygen containers; chemotherapy or radio active substances; or illicit drugs.
