East Grand School District approves $734,119 in construction projects
April 23, 2009
Several East Grand School District construction projects were approved on Tuesday with $734,119 of uncommitted funds out of the $18.2 million building renovation bond (plus bond premium and interest).
From a greater list of considerations, district board members prioritized $237,000-worth of projects that can be started this spring.
Asphalt projects on the district’s radar were approved, such as parking areas at the high school, a Granby Elementary School bus loop and teacher’s lot and crack fill on all district asphalt surfaces.
In order to make Grand Lake Elementary School compliant to the American Disabilities Act, the district board approved putting in new ramp railings for stage access, retrofitting a bathroom, and installing ADA benches and cubbies.
Likewise, the Fraser Valley and Granby elementary schools will receive automatic entrance doors.
The board held off approving other projects with the remaining balance, such as refurbishment of playgrounds at multiple schools, new classroom furniture in two high school departments, maintenance to the high school track, and roof repairs at the high school and middle school.
