Broadway alums return to Grand Lake for RMRT concert
July 18, 2013
Broadway up-and-comer Andrew Cao remembers the old days at Rocky Mountain Rep. "There were times in the Community House that we almost couldn't fit the entire cast on stage. It was incredible what we were able to do in such an intimate space," Cao said. Andrew is eagerly anticipating his first glimpse of the "new" theatre at 800 Grand Avenue, as he prepares his first return to the summer theatre in years.
"I'm so excited to be coming back to Grand Lake. I have many great memories from my time at RMRT and so many wonderful friends that I haven't seen in far too long."
Since his seasons in Grand Lake as a young actor, Cao has enjoyed quite a career on Broadway, appearing in Tony-award winning hits like "Anything Goes" and "Nice Work if You Can Get It." As he prepares for a role in the upcoming Broadway debut of Disney's "Aladdin," he returns to Grand Lake to perform on Sunday, July 28 at the Rep's annual Cabaret, a one-night-only event that raises money for the theatre's general operating fund.
Cao is joined by fellow alum and regional theatre star Abby Mueller, who has built an impressive resume appearing in dozens of productions around the country. Working at Rocky Mountain Rep was just the start.
Broadway alums join the RMRT Company to perform with a 14-piece orchestra on stage. Following the concert, attendees will enjoy a gourmet menu by O-A Bistro, a wine bar and beer from the Grand Lake Brewing Company. Another show begins after the food course when the RMRT Company hosts an impressive silent and live auction.
