Music lovers in Grand County have a wonderful Broadway-like experience awaiting them at 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 26. Once again, Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre in Grand Lake will present its annual Cabaret fundraiser.

"Since the incredible musical 'Les Miserables' is a cornerstone production of this year's rep, we are celebrating with a theme of 'A French Fortnight' with all things fun about France," said Judy Jensen, president of RMRT. "We will have a 14-day celebration preceding the Cabaret with Grand Lake merchants participating in events, culminating in a fabulous musical event on Saturday night."

Starting around July 12, special offers from Grand Lake merchants will be part of the 14-day French Fortnight celebration leading up to Cabaret. See for details.

Cabaret begins with an hour-long musical concert featuring the season's actors, who have gathered from more than 17 states to perform this summer at RMRT. Each season around 1,500 professional actors audition for a coveted spot in the RMRT company.

"It is rare to have a professional 16-piece orchestra and 20 Broadway-caliber singers all on stage at the same time," noted Michael Querio, Artistic Director. "It is a wall of sound coming at you, and not to be missed."

Besides the incredible show, the evening will include food catered by O-A Bistro, French wines provided by Grand Lake Wine and Spirits, dancing, and silent and live auctions. There is a wide assortment of silent-auction items including art and photography from local artists and autographed items from Broadway shows. The live auction is always a huge draw, with the rep's actors auctioning off their talent.

"This is my favorite event," said Karen Fry Weisbrich, Cabaret chair. "When the first notes of the overture start, I am in awe, because the music is as powerful and beautiful as our mountain surroundings."
