Expect more traffic stops on I-70 at Georgetown
May 24, 2011
GEORGETOWN, Colo. (AP) – Drivers should expect delays and traffic stops this week on Interstate 70 in the mountains west of Denver.
The Colorado Department of Transportation plans to stop traffic Monday on I-70 in Georgetown so crews can install a fence to catch falling rocks. Delays of up to 20 minutes are expected in both directions after 10 a.m.
Westbound traffic will be stopped at the Georgetown interchange and eastbound traffic will stop at the Silver Plume interchange.
From Tuesday through Thursday, one westbound lane will close at Georgetown Hill. One eastbound lane will be open from Twin Tunnels to U.S. 6 between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. those days.
