Fish & Wildlife Service: Front Range pipeline study must address fish

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says a proposal to pump water from the Green River in Wyoming to Colorado’s Front Range could threaten federally protected fish species. The wildlife agency says an environmental study needs to determine if the Green River can provide water for the pipeline and other water projects while still maintaining suitable flows for fish. The agency made its comments to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which is studying the proposal.Colorado entrepreneur Aaron Million proposes to build the $3 billion pipeline. He says he’s confident the Green River has enough water.Million says that if the analysis finds the pipeline project would hurt endangered species and that the effects couldn’t be mitigated, he would agree it shouldn’t be built.
