LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – A former girls’ basketball coach at a suburban Denver high school is accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student over several months.
Three school district employees have also been placed on leave as authorities investigate whether they knew about alleged relationship between Wesley Adam Specht and the girl.
Specht was arrested Wednesday on several child sex charges and was being held in the Jefferson County jail.
Denver’s KUSA-TV reported that, according to court documents, the principal of Alameda High School in Lakewood found out about the alleged misconduct from a school secretary. The secretary said she couldn’t believe that Specht still had his job because she said the student had been open about them having a relationship.
Specht plays for the American Basketball Association’s Colorado team but has been suspended.
