Fraser board takes Alco sign issue under advisement
May 6, 2011
FRASER – The Fraser Board of Trustees took under advisement a complaint from neighbors about the new LED sign at the northeast corner of the Fraser Valley Alco Plaza.
The board did not allow public comment during the May 4 meeting, and the town’s lawyer Rod McGowan cut the presentation short, noting that it was similar to a letter the board received several weeks prior.
Representatives from the shopping plaza said they were willing to sit down at the table with representatives from the town and the neighborhood to find a solution.
Owners of Rocky Mountain Chalet, who say the sign is negatively impacting their business, have retained lawyer David Michel to represent them. Michel agreed to talk to McGowan after the meeting but said he felt strongly that, without action from the board Wednesday night, his hand was forced by the municipal statute of limitations to immediately file a lawsuit against the town on behalf of his clients.
With the threat of the lawsuit, town trustees and staff withheld comment on the matter.
