Fraser tennis shed broken into; 20 children’s racquets stolen
July 13, 2008
Last week, the tennis shed adjacent to the Fraser Town Courts was broken into and approximately 20 tennis racquets were stolen. These racquets were utilized by youth participants in Fraser Valley Recreation District’s tennis classes and day camp program. This is the busiest summer to date for the Fraser Recreation tennis programs, with over 100 children participating in tennis offerings.
“The timing of this break-in couldn’t have been worse,” said tennis instructor Kate Walker. “Many students do not have their own equipment and rely on the loaner racquets to participate in classes.”
As a result, the Fraser Valley Recreation District is seeking donations of used tennis racquets to replace the ones that were stolen. Check your garage or basement for used racquets that might be donated to the junior tennis program. Donations may be brought to the Fraser Valley Recreation District’s Administrative Office at 216 Eisenhower Drive between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
