Government can serve best by getting out of the way

To the Editor:
Haven’t we had enough already? We’ve learned the meaning of a “TRILLION.” We have had a trillion dollar “stimulus,” which was said by the administration and the Democrat Congress to keep the unemployment rate from exceeding 8 percent.
Now unemployment is at 9.5 percent. We had the trillion dollar “omnibus budget” package, which was said necessary to make the stimulus work. Now the administration and the Democrat Congress have pushed the Energy Cap and Tax (Trade they call it) through the house – again without time to read or publicize it. The Congressional Budget Office puts a trillion dollar price tag on this hidden tax – it will be hidden in our gas, electric and propane bills. This is to be followed shortly by a TRILLION AND A HALF (per the CBO) in Obama’s “health plan” – which he claims will lower health care costs.
I’m just a simple engineer country boy but I fail to see how the federal government getting deeper into the health business will lower costs. It must be the same illogic that pumps money into the government educational system to improve the efficiency of the system?
In the meantime the Colorado state Democrats have passed copycat measures to raise our taxes (fees they called them). Wasn’t it Thomas Jefferson who said, “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
Lest some local wag again complains that we Republicans have no solutions – just quit raising taxes and start cutting them. Lead, follow or get out of the way – it’s time for the government to get out of the way. It is no longer time for you or I to just complain. Enough already – write your congressmen, give time and/or money to the party of your choice. Throw the bums out.
