Grand Chorale places second in Rocky Mountain District competition

As many as 19 quartets and 13 choruses put their best tunes before the judges for review during the Rocky Mountain District competition in Cheyenne, Wyo. During the event, Al Clark of Hot Sulphur Springs and a charter member of the Grand Chorale, was elected “Barbershopper of the Year.”

In the competition, the Grand Chorale placed second among four small choruses while singers from Denver, “The Sound of the Rockies,” walked away with the overall chorus gold.

Since the Grand Chorale is starting work for its Christmas shows taking place on Dec. 5 and Dec. 13, it is recruiting new singers to join.

The Grand Chorale is inviting all men and boys to help them usher in the holidays – a chance to “put your toe in the water.” Singers memorize a few songs and meet on Tuesday evenings in Granby.

For questions, call 970-726-4626 or show up at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 7 p.m., either Tuesday, Oct. 20 and/or Oct. 27.
