Grand Classic tournament raises $75,000 to help Grand County

To the Editor:Pole Creek Golf Club and Headwaters at Granby Ranch provided ideal locations and weather for 200 golfers June 26-28 as the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District and Grand Foundation hosted a unique two-day tournament with practice rounds at two of Grand County’s best golf courses. The tournament’s net proceeds raised nearly $75,000, which will be used to improve the programs and services for residents and guests in Grand County. The Grand Classic was an innovative approach in partnering with another organization to raise awareness and funding for local programs and services. The $75,000 generated will help strengthen the community. We owe a debt of gratitude to our many tournament sponsors who contributed their time and financial support to the event.Granby Ranch, our presenting sponsor, was truly involved in the planning of every step. We are extremely grateful for their leadership and their dedication to the community and this fundraiser.The tournament champions in the first flight were Scott Emery, Scott Ledin, Pete Strohecker and Jason Thornton.
