Grand County open burning resumes
January 6, 2010
Grand County Division of Natural Resources has resumed open burning again after a temporary stop during the holidays.
A Grand County Burn Permit must be obtained before any private individual or business can burn.
Private property burners have burned over 6,000 piles out of the approximately 8,500 permitted this season. Burn permits help track and manage the smoke from pile and debris burning throughout the county; by allowing burning only during appropriate air quality conditions and limiting the amount of burning that can occur on any given day.
To obtain a permit for burning on private land or to obtain more information regarding open burning contact the Division of Natural Resources at 970-887-0745 or visit the Grand County Web site at co.grand.co.us to download the permit application.
If you would like to be placed on the Grand County Smoke Notification List, contact Jennifer Scott at the Grand County Division of Natural Resources at 970-887-0745 or email to email@example.com.
You can also keep day-by-day tabs on the burning occurring around Grand County by logging onto the county website at co.grand.co.us and clicking on the “List of Daily Burners”. This list is updated throughout the day.
