Grand County Search and Rescue goes to aid of stranded climbers

Grand County Search and Rescue is now returning from the Indian Peaks Wilderness where they rescued two hikers who were stranded on top of Mount Achonee today, Aug. 7.
The last team was said to be returning around 2:30 p.m. from the incident command, which was located at Monarch Lake, after rescuing two 24-year-old male hikers who were stranded on the mountain, which is the prominent peak on the skyline as one looks over Monarch Lake from the trailhead.
The Grand County Search and Rescue Teams were aided by a Blackhawk helicopter from the High Altitude Training Center in Eagle.
Neither of the victims were injured and both were winched into the helicopter from the peak.
