Shay Allen, of Grand County, has been invited by talent scouts to attend this year’s Model & Talent Expo in Texas. She has been given the opportunity to pursue her dreams as a model and actor. The five-day Expo is created to help a limited selection of participants have the opportunity to “sit down with the agents and managers and find out what the agents and managers are looking for, and what they can personally do to improve their future chances,” says Convention Expo’s website home page.During these five days, Shay will participate in workshops of monologue, runway, sportswear, and head shots. This is a great opportunity that can send Shay into starting her career. However, Shay’s dream has a price. Shay and her mother Kimberly Allen are trying to raise $4,850 by Nov. 5. They organized a bake sale where they were able to raise $800. They have planned a yard sale in front of Kimberly’s Beauty Salon in downtown Granby, on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-9.Shay and her parents hope businesses or organizations can sponsor her or event donate money to support her. They have set multiple cans, where the community can put in money, all over Grand County.”I’m excited. I have always wanted to become a model. I really want to go to the Expo,” said Shay. “I want to thank everybody who has helped me and who is going to help me raise the money.”
