Grand County’s support of English as a second language appreciated by Colorado Mountain College
August 13, 2008
To the Editor:
Colorado Mountain College would like to thank the following for their support in our English as a Second Language classes here in Grand County.
First and foremost, The Lady of the Snow Catholic Church and Father Michael, who opened their church for our classes and welcomed us with food and fellowship.
Lynne Jennings from the Granby Public Library, who spoke to our parents about the importance of reading and kept our young children enthralled with her vibrant stories.
Bill Housley, Granby chief of police, who gave his time to talk about issues close to the Hispanic community.
Jan Carrasco from Public Health, who not only gave her time as a guest speaker but who volunteered every week to play, color and draw with the children of our students.

Belen Valencia who also volunteered to help with our students’ children.
Kathy Higley from Mountain Family Center.
Deb Ruttenberg from Grand Futures, who spoke passionately to the concerns of parents regarding alcohol and drugs with teens. She also, I think, might have picked up a little more Spanish than she came with.
We thank the community of Grand County for welcoming Colorado Mountain College and look forward to continuing our presence here.
