Grand Lake Fire Protection District offers sincere thanks to community

In 2005 Grand Lake Fire created the Grand Lake Fire Scholarship and Community Assistance Fund as a way to give back to the community that has been so supportive of us. The focus of the fund is to help the youth of our community participate in school-related functions where they might not otherwise have the opportunity, if our assistance was not available. Scholarship recipients are asked to come back to us at a department meeting and make a presentation to our membership to share what they learned and how the trip has affected them. The primary funding mechanism for our scholarship fund is the annual State Chili Cook-off we co-sponsor with the Colorado Chili-Pod. This year the cook-off was in the town park on June 21. Not only was the event successful but it was a lot of fun. The weather was beautiful, the chili was tasty, the band was fantastic and fun was had by all.The Grand Lake Fire Protection District would like to express its sincere thanks for all donations received for this event. The major sponsors for this event were the Sagebrush Bar and Grill, The Grand Lake Brewing Company, the Colorado Chili-Pod and the dedicated volunteers from the Grand Lake Fire Protection District. Without these sponsors the event could not have been what it was.A special thanks goes to Jill Korkowski and the volunteers from the Mountain Family Center for all of their help and organization.
