Grand Lake Rec District should be helping public, not building trails

To the Editor:

Now the Grand Lake Metropolitan Recreation District is building trails and parking areas with bond money. I would like to know why, when questioned about the dead trees bordering the Shorewood Subdivision, the members of the recreation district responded that they had no money left.

The dead trees west of the subdivision pose a real threat should a fire occur. The recreation district board did not even agree to cut some fire breaks.

Once again the citizens of the district have been hoodwinked. The bond money went exclusively to the golf course and now what is left over is going to some trail project. Obviously, the safety of some citizens is being completely ignored.

Any citizen who votes to give this group any more money is a fool. The district should be dissolved and the golf course left to the elk and moose.
