Harold Ray “SMITTY” Smith
Harold Ray Smith was born January 14, 1929 in Fraser, Colo. Harold spent his life in Fraser working mostly in the timber business as a logger. He loved being in the outdoors-fishing and hunting. He believed there was no prettier place than the Fraser Valley. Harold spent from November 5, 1952 through November 4, 1956 in the US Air Force serving in Fort Bliss and Fort Biggs in El Paso, Texas, as well as Warren Air Force Base in Wyo.
Harold passed away after losing his battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, March 6 in Windsor, Colo. He is survived by his wife Helen of 62 years, son, Steve Smith of Windsor, Colo., daughter, Donna Bennet, and her husband, Rick of Frederick, Colo., sisters, Helen Timmons, Lois Makelburg, and Viola Newberry, two grandsons, Tony Smith of Grand Junction, Colo., and Jason Smith of Granby, Colo., two great-granddaughters, Brooke and Jaiden Smith.
Harold wished to be cremated and a Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 9 at 10 a.m. at the Fraser Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Heart of the Mountains Hospice, PO Box 140, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO 80451.
