Joanie Holdsworth Hughes passed away on January 16, 2012 in Salisbury N.C.



Joanie was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend whose energetic personality and compassion were always present. Her true joy was helping others, and her loving Christian spirit shone in all she did throughout her life.

She graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. and taught art and mathematics for thirty years in Brevard, Fla. She was an accomplished artist and athlete who loved skiing, horseback riding, hiking, quilting, sailing and flying. She won the Pineapple Man 10K marathon at age 40.



Joanie moved to Sunset Ridge in Tabernash in 1999 and enjoyed success in high altitude gardening. She was active in the Church of the Eternal Hills choir and served as a deacon there. She also taught therapeutic horseback riding.

She is survived by her son John Holdsworth and daughter, Jennifer Boyd, brother Walter Knosp and four grandchildren.

Funeral Services are Feb. 4, 2012 in Satellite Beach, Fla. Memorial Services will be Friday, June 29, 2012 at Church of the Eternal Hills, Tabernash. Memorial gifts can be sent to Eternal Hills Preschool PO Box 300 Tabernash, CO 80478
