Kathleen Moran: Kudos to Kris Lorens, teacher
November 9, 2010
To the Editor:
I was so excited to read in the Oct. 29 Sky-Hi News that East Grand Middle School was voted one of the top 15 healthiest schools in Colorado. As a retired teacher, I know the time, energy and effort it takes to apply and put together a grant, like this one.
Kris Lorens, East Grand Middle School’s girls physical education teacher, took the initiative to apply for this grant and got students, parents, and faculty to write letters telling why their school should be awarded a $5,000 grant, so the school can continue to promote a healthy school environment.
We all want our schools to be the best and our school district to be recognized for these outstanding honors. It is teachers like Kris Lorens who we need to thank and honor for taking time out of her busy schedule, to do this for our children, community and school district. Thank you Kris Lorens!
