Kremmling April election poised to be mail only

In December, Kremmling trustees adopted a resolution calling for the April 6 municipal election to be conducted as a mail ballot election.

All Kremmling voters registered with the county will receive a mail ballot, Soltis explained. This method of voting generally has led to increased participation in other elections, he added.

“I think the timing is right,” Soltis told trustees. “This is the way (everyone’s) going, guys.”

Town Clerk Rhonda Shearer said the method also will save the town time and money because Grand County election officials will verify voters and tally the ballots.

In effect, “They’re my election judges,” she said.

The terms of trustees Mike Music, Jason Bock and Grant Burger III are due to expire. Music and Bock said they intend to run again. Burger said he hasn’t decided whether he will run for re-election.

Soltis said he is also researching the possibility of putting a question on the ballot asking voters whether they want the town to publish legal notices by title only.

Grand Lake and Granby will have similar questions on their ballots.
