To the Editor:

The Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce would like to take the opportunity to thank our many sponsors, donors and volunteers for making the 66th Annual Buffalo BBQ Weekend a huge success in Grand Lake. Thank you Town of Grand Lake, Town of Grand Lake Public Works and Bernie McGinn and Barky Lew, Grand County Colorado Tourism Board and the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for your support and sponsorship.

Thank you Peggy Lenehan, John Williams, Garey Southeby, Lucas Ackerman and John Van Grinsven for assisting us with the set up of the event. Thank you Jim Corville for the use of your timing machine. Thank you Shawn Murphy, Jim Peterson, Jim and Stephanie Kroepfl, Charlene and John Simcox, Lynne Ludwig, Lucas and Erin Ackerman, Marti Lund, Lindsey Morrow and friends for helping mark, coordinate and time the popular Buffalo Stampede 5k race. Coca-Cola and Jerry Gioia were kind enough to donate eleven cases of Powerade for our racers and volunteers and we appreciate you.

A huge thank you goes to the volunteers who helped prepare and serve the BBQ, sell plates and store the food. Thank you Mountain Food Market for the coleslaw, thank you Sagebrush BBQ Grill for the baked beans and the use of your gas grill, thank you Rebecca and Kyle Lindsey, David Hook, Hayden Burke, Dennis and Susan McNulty, Kay Raymond, Gayle Langley, Lynne Ludwig, Jan J., Lucas Ackerman and family, Audrey McWhorter, Roger and Sherol. You are amazing. Thank you Logan Van Grinsven for picking up litter in the park. I cannot forget to mention and thank Audrey Mc Whorter for the use of her van from Alpine Business Products and Carey Barnes, Daven Haven Lodge for the use of her Kimbro food warmers. It made transporting the food very easy. Thank you Lisa Jenkins and the Gateway Inn for the use of your kitchen, ice and walk-in coolers for food storage and prep. You all took a lot of the stress away and I appreciate your reliability. Also, thank you John Van Grinsven for organizing and preparing the BBQ and having it in the park on time to feed all of our guests. You all helped make it run very smoothly.

I have heard many good things about the Buffalo Herd Parade that went through the Village of Grand Lake and traditionally, the wet zone was as exciting as ever. Cathie Hook, thank you for helping with the organization of the parade. Everyone who participated had very creative floats so thank you for being a part of the tradition. Thank you Peter the Painter and Duane Dailey for announcing the parade for the Chamber. We appreciate Woody and Spirit Lake Rentals for the use of your side by side.

Thank you KRKY, Daven Haven Lodge and El Pacifico, Channel 18 and Mike Turner for organizing and sponsoring the Texaco Country Showdown. It was great to see such wonderful local talent on our Main Stage. Thank you Sam Conger and the Waconda Lodge for the use of your beautifully built stage. It was a wonderful addition to the annual event.

Sunday’s Cowboy Church in the Park was made possible by Pastors Gordan England and Jim Weber and Stillwater Chapel. Sandra Dee and Charlie’s message touched many and we appreciate your support of our event.

Thank you Grand Lake Gentlemen’s Club and Grand Lake Floozies, the shoot-outs and your presence added that special touch to the weekend.

We appreciate the merchandise, game and food vendors who joined us. We hope you will come back next year.

Thank you Tom Ludwig, Diane LaDuc and Kelly Calderoni, Austin Anderson, Garey Southeby, Lucas and Erin Ackerman and family, John Van Grinsven, Logan Van Grinsven, Roger and Sherol, for helping us strike the event. One last thank you needs to be mentioned and she knows who she is. You played a vital role in the event’s success and I will always appreciate your friendship and support.

Lastly, I want to thank Samantha Miller, Marketing and Tourism Director for the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. I appreciate your help and expertise; I look forward to our many successes.

If I have forgotten to thank you by name it was unintentional. We appreciate your support and look forward to a successful 67th Annual Buffalo BBQ weekend in 2014.
