Letter: I worry of reduction in patient services in Kremmling
November 21, 2013
To the Editor:
What is happening to "our hospital" in Kremmling?
I live 14 miles from Kremmling. I recently had a screening procedure performed at the Granby Clinic. The nurses, the doctor and ancillary personal were all great. The facility is very nice.
I now am scheduling another screening procedure and am told I have to go to Granby.
OK, now, I wonder if I should change healthcare systems entirely. Steamboat/Yampa Health system is approximate 59 miles away, Centura Healtcare system is 51 miles away, Granby Facility is 53 miles away, and Kremmling hospital is 14 miles from my home. For that matter, Denver is one additional hour traveling than Granby is from my home .
I know in the past that all of these procedures were performed at the Kremmling Hospital.
I like my primary physicians at Kremmling. Although, I question the expectations that are put upon them. As an example, being on ER call all night then being expected to perform competently the next day in the clinic after being up all night. Long scheduled appointments were very much delayed because the doctor was on "ER call."
Now my dilemma is this, if I needed further specialty services, I would be sent to either Steamboat, Frisco, or Denver. So do I make the change or do I continue to put up with these inconveniences as I do support rural health care. It is our community hospital and would hope the community feels these inconveniences are becoming a disservice to our community.
