Letter to the Editor

Editor:

The fires at the shooting range near Parshall have any easy solution.

The range relies on the hillside behind it as a bullet backstop, which is rocky. Most ranges employ artificial dirt berms built behind each range to stop bullets. They are soft and absorbent and don’t contain rocks that can generate sparks.

It would seem that the construction of such berms would be cheaper than the cost of extinguishing wildfires.
