LITTLE: Bus drivers don’t pay the tax of a billionaire

To the Editor:After reading Glenn Bakken’s letter to the editor where he claimed a bus driver making $26,000 pays a higher tax rate than a billionaire, I thought I would check it out.I used H&R Block’s website and I entered $26,000 for wages, put in my age and claimed one exemption. Their calculations said I owed $495. This came out to an income tax rate of 1.9 percent. Even if you added payroll taxes to this, the rate still is under 11 percent, far below what was claimed in the letter. All I would ask is that people, whether Democrat or Republican, deal in facts rather than hearsay.Pete LittleGranby
