Maes refuses to release Colo. tax returns

DENVER (AP) – GOP gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes is refusing to make his tax returns public.

Instead, he turned them over to an Internet Web site run by campaign supporters. The site has posted a summary of the returns but not the documents themselves.

Jordan Maes, his daughter and executive aide, says GOP primary opponent Scott McInnis only released partial returns and Maes can choose what he will release and how he will release it.

McInnis released four years of tax forms, showing he earned $2.8 million and paid about $680,000 in taxes. He didn’t release documents listing his business partnerships or his charitable giving.

Democratic opponent John Hickenlooper released 22 years of tax returns but he didn’t release the names of charities he supported.
