Middle Park girls win league cross-country title

The Middle Park Lady Panthers won the Frontier League girls cross-country championship hosted by Clear Creek High School last Friday with several strong individual performances.

Finishing in the top ten were four runners from Middle Park. Samantha Berggren won the race and was followed by Grace Knight in second, Amelia Clancy in third and Samantha Miyauchi in seventh place. Also running for the Lady Panthers were Seraphina Smith, Sydney Markle, Sophie Larson and Lauren Rimmer.

For the boys, Taber Miyauchi led the boys to a sixth-place team finish as he finished in eighth place. He was joined at the meet by Garrett Whitford, Joe Rupp and Marcus Curran.

The team’s next meet is the state-qualifying meet to be held today at Clement Park at 6100 S. Pierce Street in Littleton. The 3A girls race will start at 3:45 p.m. and the boys race will start at 5 p.m.

It will be a multi-class regional, with runners from Class 3A, 4A and 5A participating.

Qualifying for state in the girls classification will be the top four teams and individuals finishing in the top 15. For the boys, the qualifiers for state will be the top five teams and individuals finishing in the top 15.
