Church is legally separated from the state in France in 1905. In 1917, Britain took control of Jerusalem in Palestine. Billie Stockton, a Hollywood dancer, in 1930 made her dress from an entire head of lettuce for her part of Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Harry Gold, who confessed to assisting a British scientist, Klaus Fuchs in stealing information on the atomic bomb was sentenced to 30 years in jail in America in 1950.

In 1960 Coronation Street was broadcast for the first time in the north of England, and



in 1992 Prince Charles and Princess Diana announce their separation formally. Not long after, in 1994 in the United States, President Bill Clinton fired Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders after she tells a conference that masturbation should be discussed in schools as a part of human sexuality. In 2004 Canada’s Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage is constitutional. Two years later, in 2006, forty-five women were killed in a fire in a Moscow hospital for drug addicts.
