Headwaters Trails Alliance
Maintaining trails and funding projects on public lands is crucial to maintaining a mountain lifestyle. Headwaters Trails Alliance is the county-wide organization doing just that. Headwaters has a mission to identify, maintain, and expand an accessible, interconnecting trail system in Grand County. It accomplishes this through grant-writing, organizing volunteer workdays, and holding various fundraisers and special events. Headwaters actively works with local land management agencies to collaborate on various trails projects and events such as National Public Lands Day and the local Adopt a Trail Program. Headwaters constructed the Fraser to Granby Trail, collaborates with Fraser Valley Partnership for Trails to provide free cross-country skiing, maintains a website with all the latest trails information and various maps available for download, and prints and distributes the ever-popular Grand County Trails Map. Look out for new trail signs coming next spring featuring elevation profiles, mile markers and "you are here" maps. To learn more, visit http://www.headwaterstrails.org or call 970-726-1013.
