May showers bring June flowers. That doesnt have quite the ring to it as the original. But at our altitude of 8,000-plus feet above sea level, life is just not the same as everywhere else in the world its better.The weather forecast for the next week is . . . warm and sunny in the morning (get out on the lake) . . . a rain shower at noon . . . an hour of sunshine early in the afternoon . . . followed by another shower or two with intermittent sunshine and continued cooling . . . one final short squall ends with a beautiful rainbow and a spectacular sunset.Dont miss the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre welcome back party hosted by the Grand Arts Council. Join them Wednesday at the Daven Haven from 5-7 p.m. for appetizers and a sampling of some of the great talent to perform this season. A donation of $10 is suggested at the door.You might want to treat yourself to a sneak preview of this years shows in a more intimate setting on June 6. For the seventh year, C Lazy U is hosting an evening of comaraderie, conviviality, fine dining and a sneak preview of the RMRT season presented by the 2009 actors and musicians. $150 donation admits one, and tickets may be purchased by calling 970-627-5087.This weekend is the first craft fair of the season. The Grand Lake Festival ofArts & Crafts is June 6-7 in Town Park. Stroll the boardwalk and park filled with booths of amazing hand crafted items including jewelry, photography, woodworking, pottery and more. Then, on June 6, park yourself on the lawn for a Concert in the Park at the Grand Lake Town Park Gazebo starting at 1 p.m.Everyones invited to the Grand Lake Area Historical Societys Annual Meeting, June 10th, 7 p.m., at the Fire Station meeting room. There’ll be two great presentations: Cheryl Pennington will speak about the photo colorization process she uses with antique and vintage photos, and GL Town Planner Abbi Jo Wittman along with Grand County Preservation Board President Dave Lively will discuss their work with historic designation for the area. Refreshments will be served.This is a public event, so come, learn and munch the goodies!Dont forget to RSVP this week for the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce free picnic dinner for Chamber Members and potential Chamber Members on Wednesday. Then join the group on Thursday, June 11, at 12:30 p.m. Bring your lunch and join the discussion.On Saturday, June 20, bring all your friends for a Wildflower Walk at 8:15 a.m. Led by Grand County flower expert Pat Berman. Carpool from Juniper Library at 8 a.m., or meet at the Shadow Mountain Dam parking lot at 8:15. $5.00 ANRA fee required. You will walk a 5-mile loop through Ranger Meadow and the Shadow Mountain Shore Loop. Bring sunscreen, water and comfortable shoes. Limited to 15 people. The tour is slated for June 27 from 1-5 p.m. This self-guided event includes 5 Grand Lake area homes that youd just love to get inside. Tickets are $25 per person to tour all five homes plus an after-tour reception at the Bears Den. This event has a history of being sold out, so pick up your tickets today at the Grand Lake Art Gallery or call Andrea Cox at 970-627-1000. In addition, the Sixth Home Dinner is spectacular. Join other tour-goers at a fabulous sixth home for a full five course gourmet dinner catered by Carolines Cuisine.
