Enjoy the Easter weekend coming up and have a great time looking for the eggs and chocolates the Easter Bunny will be bringing. There are lots of things happening this Easter weekend and into April. You can tell we are moving out of winter and spring is drawing us to the outdoors. The new calves are arriving, sports are moving outside and more events are packing our calendars as we get closer to the end of the school year.

The Easter Bunny will be at Cliffview Assisted Living Center this Saturday for the annual Easter egg hunt. The hunting will start at 10 a.m. on the lawn at Cliffview. Kids 12 and under can look for eggs and visit with the Easter Bunny for treats and pictures.

 



The West Grand track team is hosting the annual Joe Shields Invitational Track Meet this Saturday, April 3. The team this year has nine seniors leading about 50 tracksters on the squad. Coaches are Joe Shields, Cheryl and Chris Brown and Jessie Slusher. Good luck to all the participants, have a great season.

 



Thursday, April 1 is another community meeting about the budget concerns affecting the West Grand School District. This meeting will be held at the high school auditorium at 7 p.m. The school district is facing serious financial issues and wants our input to make the best possible decisions that affect our children’s education.

 

Election Day is Tuesday, April 6. The Town of Kremmling is conducting the election by mail. Active voters in the town should have already received their ballots. Three board seats and the mayor are up for election. None of the seats were contested. There are also two ballot questions this election. You can mail your ballot back or drop it off at the town hall. On Election Day, town hall will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for you to drop off your ballots.

 

You can still sign up to play ball this summer. Applications are available for your 5-14 year olds at town hall or the elementary school. The deadline for sign up is April 8. If you have questions or would like to volunteer as a coach, umpire or on-the-field crew contact David Wilson at 970-406-1042 or 406-1228.

  

The 9 Health Fair is coming Saturday, April 10. Pre-registration will be in the conference room at Kremmling Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 7, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also register on line at http://www.9health.com. The health fair will be at the West Grand High School from 7:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

 

National Library Week is April 11-17. The theme this year is “Communities Thrive @your library.” There are two contests at the library to celebrate Library Week the Shoebox Float Contest and the Book Jacket Contest. The contests are a fun way to bring your favorite book to life. The due date for entries in the contests is April 2, so the shoeboxes and book covers can be judged. Be sure your name, grade and phone number are on your entries. Contact your Kremmling Library for information about the contests and other things planned for Library Week. A root beer float party will be held on April 16 at 2 p.m. for participants and the winners will be announced.

   

The West Grand Education Foundation is honoring Mike and Susan Ritschard this year as Outstanding Citizens. The banquet is coming up at 6 p.m. April 17 at the high school. Tickets for the chuck wagon dinner and entertainment are $30 per person. Sven Jorgensen, Circus of the Earth is the special program for the evening. Tickets are available now from any foundation member or from the District Office at 724-1006.
