Kremmling showing signs of fading summer

I admit to feeling just a little bit of regret when every event or sale suddenly becomes the “Last of… or End of Summer” happening. I knew it would be coming soon enough but I haven’t even put the snow blower away yet from last winter.

One really enjoyable end of summer event was the show the Corvette Club put on in the Town Square last Saturday. I had just watched the episode of How It Is Made on the National Geographic Channel about the new Corvette and we were able to see the real thing at the show.

In talking with many of the car owners it was great to experience not only how proud they were of their cars, but also how willing they were to share them with us. So they turned me down on driving the car around the block, but my son did get to sit in several of them.

An upcoming event in Town Square is the last show in this season’s Grand Mountain Bank Summer Concert series featuring the Erica Brown Band. Hailed as the best rhythm and blues band out of Denver, they will be taking the stage at 5:30 on Sept. 5.

Dalene Harthun of Grand Hair Design has had the new addition to her family at the shop. My wife was treated to meeting Taly, their new baby girl, when she was there last week.

One last sign of the end of summer, the West Grand Elementary and Middle School Open House is tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. My son was so prepared to start the school year that he was able to forget his band instrument on the bus the very first week. Hopefully that is not a foreshadowing of his year to come.
